Plan a Secret Santa with household rules
Decide who is taking part before drawing names. Household exclusions help an extended family exchange reach beyond the people who already exchange gifts at home.
1. Agree on the basics
Choose a gift budget and exchange date together. Ask each person whether they want to participate; do not assume every member of a household does.
2. Write down exclusions
List pairs who should not buy for each other, such as partners. Too many exclusions can make a draw impossible, especially in a small group.
3. Draw, then share ideas
In Gift Gift, create a private exchange, add the participants, set cannot-buy rules, and draw assignments. Participants can attach their registries so the person buying has ideas to work from.
Does everyone need an account?
An organizer can include named participants before they join. An account is needed to manage an exchange or access a personal assignment in the app. A shared public registry can be viewed without signing in.
